Said the Gramophone has three writers, Dan, Jordan and Sean. Wespend a very big lot of time on the blog - scouring for songs, listening to songs, writing words, rewriting words. We don't make adime from the site, but that's okay - it's a privilege to be able towrite, to be read, to have a conversation with a few thousand kindredspirits. (We mean you.)

But Said the Gramophone's not the onlything we do. Some things we do to pay the rent, some things we do justbecause we need to; because our hearts say so. And some of the thingsthat we do, well, they cost money and time in a way that's moreserious, that's harder, and this year for the first time we're saying: Hey. Maybe you feel like helping out.

Anything you give us is a gift, a kindness, and there is no "target" tohit. Anything you offer is, well... amazing.

We will only be taking donations for one week.

All the money donated to "Gramophone's people" will be distributed between Dan, Jordan and Sean, for these works:

  • Dan is turning The Bitter End,the improvised sitcom he's been working on for almost a year, into afull-fledged web show. It's exciting, and funny, and inspiring, andexpensive. He can use any and all help from wherever he can get it, andit will not go unappreciated. Truly, if you want to help, he thanks you.
  • Jordan is plays in the band The Cay,which, if it were a child, would this year be entering Grade 4. It's nota child, so it won't be attending school, but like a child, the band hasbeen draining its parents' coffers since its 2001 birth. Offers ofbabysitting, mother's milk, or money would help to ease thisself-imposed, endlessly rewarding burden and would be profoundlyappreciated.
  • Sean is still working on writing short stories and his first novel. The novel is called The Blue Roomand includes the words "said the gramophone", without capital letters. His heart would just about explode if he could get some help paying forongoing travel, research and coffee.

Some reasons to give:

  • Said the Gramophone remains advertising free.
